FAQ's: AD/VPN Accounts


What is an AD/VPN account?

AD accounts give you access to the Active Directory servers at UNH as well as VPN access. Active Directory allows you to access network folders, certain printers, and allows you to log into computer clusters.

Who can get an AD/VPN account?

AD accounts are available to all UNH faculty and staff.  Students should use their WILDCAT accounts to log into the clusters and the VPN. 

How can I apply for an account?

Click on Apply Online.

How do I change my password?

You can change your AD password using the Login Help self service application.

What if I forget my password?

You can use the Login Help self service application to reset your password if you have forgotten your password or your password does not work.

How do I get an AD/VPN account disabled?

The Human Resources employee termination process is directly related to disabling of computer accounts.  On an employee's termination date his or her AD account will be automatically disabled.  If you want an account disabled prior to an employee leaving the University, please call the UNH IT Service Desk at 862-4242. Click here for more information on the deactivation of computer accounts.
